“My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music

Cody and Sierra decided that they wanted to do a song from the much loved and well known musical “The Sound of Music.” Checkout our version of “My Favorite Things” which happens to be one of the Singing Dogs favorite songs.

My Favorite Things

Let us know if you liked this version of My Favorite Things below.  The Singing Dogs love to hear feedback and comments from fans! 🙂

I personally think our version is pretty good but I still manage to laugh (yeah… mess-up) when I am playing since having two dogs sing along to your saxophone playing is pretty entertaining even if you are used to it.  I just hope Julie Andrews likes this version since she is best known for singing My Favorite Things and playing the part of Maria.

I don't think we will be invited to be on any future productions of The Sound of Music but it still is fun to post videos of the dogs ‘talent.'  Some of you probably watched the NBC's live production of The Sound of Music on TV a couple days ago.  Sierra actually wanted to try out for Liesl, the oldest daughter in the Von Trapp family, but I wasn't so sure that the producers of the show would let a singing dog on a live national TV musical production.  Although that would be really cool.  Also I don't recall there being any roles for dogs in the Sound of Music.  Perhaps Sierra could be in a production of Annie since there is a dog in that musical.

Anyway, if you saw the Sound of Music Live on TV with Carrie Underwood, what did you think of it?  Did you enjoy it or not like it?  Also, let us know what your favorite things are?  Do you have any favorite songs?  We'd be happy to know.

Puppy Bowl, The Best Super Bowl Alternative

puppy bowl

If you are not a football fan or care much for sports than you won't be excited to watch the Super Bowl today.  However don't fret because there is a good alternative for you, the Puppy Bowl!

The Puppy Bowl is an ‘Animal Planet' TV show that features adorable and cute puppies playing a game of football.  The puppies in  the Puppy Bowl play in a miniature Animal Planet Stadium that looks like a football field and do cute puppy things.

One cool thing is that all the puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from rescue and shelters.  This is to raise awareness for people about how they can adopt a shelter dog.

Here is the description from the Animal Planet website:

The biggest event on all fours is back!Puppy Bowl returns for its ninth consecutive year with an all-star, all-adorable cast that's ready to mix it up on the grand gridiron of Animal Planet Stadium. Puppy Bowl IXbrings viewers a loveable lineup that's itching to play in a winning combination of terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and Fido first downs. Featuring fan favorites like the Water Bowl Cam, tail-gating fans, and the hamster-steered blimp, this year's big game is sure to be a tail-wagger. For the first time ever, viewers can see slow motion replays with the new Cute Cam. And be on the lookout for the hedgehog cheerleaders. Also, don't miss the debut of the puppy hot tub, where puppy players can cool down after tearing up the field. From barking beagles and spunky spaniels to everything in between, we've got the cutest players taking the field on the most action-packed Sunday of the year. Plus, back for another year is the popular Bissel Kitten Halftime Show, guaranteed to bring the house down! And, sideline reporter “Meep the Bird” will return to tweet live updates throughout the game. Follow @MeepTheBird on game day for the latest news, puppy penalties and behind-the-scenes moments from inside the stadium.

The Puppy Bowl is an awesome alternative for animals lovers don't care about watching the Super Bowl or the commercials, which are mostly posted on Youtube nowadays anyway.   They have a Puppy Live Cam you can watch which is totally cute.

The Puppy Bowl will be airing on Animal Planet at 3pm EST on February 3rd, 2013.

Cody, Sierra, and I will definitely be watching the Super Bowl this year since the Baltimore Ravens are playing against the San Francisco 49ers.  Joe Flacco, the Raven quarterbacks  is the spokesperson for the Baltimore Humane Society.

Cody and Sierra on “Anderson” with Anderson Cooper

This was posted on Adam's Auto Advice on December 27, 2011 but I thought I should share it here.

Yesterday Sierra, Cody, my Mom and I appeared on Anderson Cooper's new daytime talk show, Anderson, on national TV! It was quite amazing to see ourselves on TV with Anderson Cooper. It was sort of surreal, “Was that real?”

Then I flashed back to when we actually went up to New York City for the taping and remembered talking with Anderson Cooper. That was real!

When you see yourself on national TV though, you realize a lot of people will see this! My immediate thoughts when I saw myself on TV were, “Is that really me?” You tend to have an outer image of what you think you look like. When you see a picture of yourself you are not crazy about you rationalize, “Oh well, nobody will see this!”

I was pleased with how the whole segment turned out. You are kind of afraid that maybe you did something odd or stupid, and did not realize it. Then it will be shown on TV! I thought my playing was good, and Sierra's singing was wonderful. It looked like Cody was going to sing, but I guess he wasn't in the mood. He had such a stoic and proud look when Sierra was singing. He's got a great voice as well, but maybe he just wanted Sierra to have the spotlight.

At least I was happy I able to keep my composure. I was also happy that the dogs behaved and that they looked very nice on TV. The baths definitely helped!

When the segment aired Cody watched intently like he usually does when dogs are on TV. However, this time he was watching himself. Sierra did something pretty hilarious. When she heard herself on TV, she vocalized softly while lying down on the bed through the entire song. It was great!

If you missed the Anderson segment yesterday, don't worry. It has already been posted on the Anderson website. Click here, to watch it. The segment did not show our full Auld Lang Syne video. Check out the SingingDogsRock Youtube Channel for additional videos.

In Baltimore it was on NBC at 2pm, but other people told me it was on Fox and CBS. People also wrote emails saying the show aired at 9am and 10am in some parts of the country. I don't know how TV works these days!

I hope this leads to more opportunities for us. I have consulted with Sierra and Cody and they would like to use their musical gifts to help animals in need.

Please visit National English Shepherd Rescue (NESR), if you want to learn more about English Shepherds. Maybe you would even like to adopt one to love and cherish.
