BARCStoberfest and 5K Run – October 20th

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is holding it's annual BARCStoberFest and 5K Run this Saturday (October 20th) at Patterson Park.  The event will help benefit and fund BARCS which helps over 12,000 homeless animals each year.  BARCStoberFest will feature:

* Good food, live music, and special guests
* Adoptable cats and dogs from BARCS and other rescue groups
* Pet costume contests, fun games, and demonstrations
* Animal health and wellness experts
* Local artists and food vendors

In addition there will be a silent auction and raffle, pet micro-chipping, and other area animal rescue groups will be in attendance too.

BARCStober Fest, in partnership with Charm City Run, will be featuring the first “Ready…Set…Sniff 5-K Run OR Walk” with your special pets around Baltimore’s famous Patterson Park.  The Run/Walk will ends at the start of BARCStoberfest so people can enjoy a human and family fun filled day together. DogFest 2012 benefiting the Baltimore Humane Society – October 6th, 2012

The Baltimore Humane Society will be holding the dog extravaganza known as DogFest 2012 this Saturday, October 6th 2012.  It will be a fun filled day of activities for both humans and pets and will help raise much needed funds for the Baltimore Humane Society.

Contests will be held for Best Trick, Best Costume, Best Dancer, or Best Owner/Pet Look-Alike.  There will be a few celebrity judges from local TV and radio stations like WBAL-TV's Jennifer Franciotti, MIXX 106.5's Maria Dennis, WYPR's Sheila Kast, or MAGIC's 95.9 Lolo and even other celebrities are expected to come by.

Kids will enjoy the crafts section, Moonbounce, face painting by Fantasy Faces, and Shakespeare animal scenes acted by The Shakespeare Factory.

Let friends, family, and neighbors know about DogFest. You don't even need a dog to come by!

There is Free Parking on-site and remember to avoid traffic by checking the alternate driving routes on the DogFest website.  To save time and standing in what will definitely be a long line, you can buy tickets online too.

Pyrates For Pups Maryland SPCA Fundraiser – September 21st, 5-9pm

The Maryland SPCA along with local Baltimore food trucks and Heavy Seas beers will be holding a fundraiser “Pyrates For Pups” tomorrow night, Friday September 21st, 2012 from 5-9pm.  The fun event will be located at Swann Park in downtown Baltimore and will feature live music by Hanover Blue.

Admission to Pyrates For Pups is free but a percentage of the food and drink sales will be donated to the MD SPCA so they can continue to do great work for homeless animals in Baltimore.  So be sure to go down and stuff your face with delicious food from Baltimore's best food trucks and great beet for Heavy Sees.

If you are looking to add to your loving family there will be adoptable dogs on site.  The dogs will be dressed up like pirates, which should make you want to adopt them!

If you have a dog (or dogs) there will be an off-leash play area at the Downtown Dog Resort & Spa.  So this will be a great happening event for area dog lovers who want to have some fun all while benefiting a good cause.

Parking will be available at the onsite parking lot and there should be some spaces around the neighborhood.
