Sierra’s Auld Lang Syne Video on Good Morning America!

Sierra's Auld Lang Syne Video on Good Morning America!

Another BIG appearance I haven't put up on Singing Dogs is that Sierra was on Good Morning America for the New Year's Show! A producer contacted me and said that they “Loved” the video of Sierra singing to ‘Auld Lang Syne' lying down and they wanted to show it on Good Morning America for the Play of the Day segment.

For those that might have missed it (we did too by the way) you can watch the video here.  I included the short promo they did before the commercial break.

Pretty cool, right?  I mean the guy call Sierra a “He” but at least she was the best part of the Play of the Day segment.  (That is my biased opinion.)  He did say “English Shepherd” which was accurate.

It took me awhile to get the video on Youtube.  Someone sent me a VHS of the show, then I transferred that onto a DVD with my Toshiba DVD Recorder, put the file on my laptop, then I finally got it edited correctly and uploaded it to the SingingDogsRock channel.  It was sort of annoying because it was so time consuming.  At least the video is up so people can see it now.

Please leave a comment below and let us know what you think of Sierra's Good Morning America appearance.  Got an opinion about Cody and Sierra's other media and press appearances?  Leave a comment too!

A Classic Christmas Song “O Christmas Tree”

Cody and Sierra last night seemed to be in a particularly good singing mood so we decided to do play a Christmas classic “O Christmas Tree.”  I think they both did a pretty good job, what do you think?

Remember if you have a suggestion for a holiday or Christmas song please leave a comment on Singing Dogs and let us know.  You are also welcome to shoot us an email.  We already fulfilled the song request “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” and we are happy to play what our fans want to hear.  However please keep in mind we can't fulfill all song requests but we will certainly try our best.

We hope everyone enjoyed the Singing Dogs version of “O Christmas Tree” and wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New  Year, and a great holiday season.

Cody and Sierra on “Anderson” with Anderson Cooper

This was posted on Adam's Auto Advice on December 27, 2011 but I thought I should share it here.

Yesterday Sierra, Cody, my Mom and I appeared on Anderson Cooper's new daytime talk show, Anderson, on national TV! It was quite amazing to see ourselves on TV with Anderson Cooper. It was sort of surreal, “Was that real?”

Then I flashed back to when we actually went up to New York City for the taping and remembered talking with Anderson Cooper. That was real!

When you see yourself on national TV though, you realize a lot of people will see this! My immediate thoughts when I saw myself on TV were, “Is that really me?” You tend to have an outer image of what you think you look like. When you see a picture of yourself you are not crazy about you rationalize, “Oh well, nobody will see this!”

I was pleased with how the whole segment turned out. You are kind of afraid that maybe you did something odd or stupid, and did not realize it. Then it will be shown on TV! I thought my playing was good, and Sierra's singing was wonderful. It looked like Cody was going to sing, but I guess he wasn't in the mood. He had such a stoic and proud look when Sierra was singing. He's got a great voice as well, but maybe he just wanted Sierra to have the spotlight.

At least I was happy I able to keep my composure. I was also happy that the dogs behaved and that they looked very nice on TV. The baths definitely helped!

When the segment aired Cody watched intently like he usually does when dogs are on TV. However, this time he was watching himself. Sierra did something pretty hilarious. When she heard herself on TV, she vocalized softly while lying down on the bed through the entire song. It was great!

If you missed the Anderson segment yesterday, don't worry. It has already been posted on the Anderson website. Click here, to watch it. The segment did not show our full Auld Lang Syne video. Check out the SingingDogsRock Youtube Channel for additional videos.

In Baltimore it was on NBC at 2pm, but other people told me it was on Fox and CBS. People also wrote emails saying the show aired at 9am and 10am in some parts of the country. I don't know how TV works these days!

I hope this leads to more opportunities for us. I have consulted with Sierra and Cody and they would like to use their musical gifts to help animals in need.

Please visit National English Shepherd Rescue (NESR), if you want to learn more about English Shepherds. Maybe you would even like to adopt one to love and cherish.

Jasmine the Havanese Dog Assistant

jasmine dog assistant

With Cody and Sierra being somewhat well known dogs these days, I am always finding and connecting with new talented dogs on YouTube and around the internet.  One such dog is a Havanese named Jasmine that is a pretty good personal (dog) assistant.

As you can see CJ, Jasmine's owner, has taught Jasmine quite an impressive arsenal of dog tricks.  Jasmine's most useful dog trick, or helpful chore, is getting clothes out of the dryer.  Don't you wish your dog could do that ?

Jasmine and CJ have made numerous TV appearances which include being on Good Morning America, and Animal Planet “Who Let The Dogs Out She was also featured on Anderson too, which is something my dogs know about!”

For even more dog tricks watch “Jasmine's Dog Trick Resume” below.  Some of my favorite tricks Jasmine does are Push Shopping Cart, Play the Piano, Say Your Prayers, Take off Sock, and Ring the Bell.

Jasmine is the same breed (Havanese) as Wolfie Cody and Sierra's dog cousin.  Of course Wolfie doesn't quite have as many dog tricks up his sleeve as Jasmine  .

Cody and Sierra can't do these tricks but it would be awesome to teach them.  Having helpful dogs around the house doing chores would be useful and fun.  At least they are “singing dogs” and they are musically talented.

Mt. Washington Swim Club Dog Day

A few weeks ago our pool, the Mt. Washington Swim Club, closed for the season since it's starting to get cold.

The pool people decided the last day would be a “Dog Day.”  They invited members to bring by their dog (or in our case dogs) for a swim.  We took Cody and Sierra to the pool but they were not to keen on getting into the water.  Sierra kept jumping on us nervously and Cody seemed a little nervous too.  They saw the other dogs swimming and thought “Do we have to do that?”  We didn't make them get into the water but did encourage them to try to get in to no avail.

As you can see other dogs were having a blast in the pool though.  I hope they do the Dog Day at the pool again since it was a lot of fun bringing Cody and Sierra by even though they didn't go swimming.  Hopefully they will do it again next year and let dogs stay in the pool a little longer.

It was sad to see the pool close!  Don't you wish Summer could last forever?

Sierra Teaches a Puppy How To “Sing”

Currently Cody, Sierra, and our musical family are fostering a great English Shepherd Puppy named Scout.  This guy is smart, sweet, sensitive and… is also a singer!  That means we now have a Dog Singing Trio! 🙂

puppy singing lesson

Sierra, the dog diva, gave Scout a singing lesson.  If you watch the video below you can clearly see he is watching Sierra and trying to mimic her singing.  Of course Sierra thinks nobody can match her singing.  After all she is a “Dog Diva!”

Cody actually first gave Scout a singing lesson, but we didn't get that on video.  Scout seemed to react well to Cody's deeper singing voice.  Cody is also singing in this video too but we couldn't get him in the frame with the other singing dogs.  You will have to listen carefully.
