Today it was finally a nice Spring day. Seems like the dogs really enjoyed it and they ran around a lot. This past weekend we had a lot of rain so they seemed happy about it. It was such a great day they got 2 walks.
Oh No! I hate Wearing a Dog Raincoat
Today it's been pouring and raining hard all day. This has made the yard basically the ultimate mud pit and that means… muddy dog paws. That essentially means we have to spend time cleaning muddy dog feet which is something I have to do, but don't really want to. At least Cody and Sierra don't mind getting muddy, but they aren't always so excited about the rain.
Even though we let the dogs out in the pouring rain in the yard, we still have to take them out on a walk. That's how it is when you have dogs. I got pretty wet on our walk today and even though I wore a raincoat it was pouring rain so much that got kind of wet too.
It wasn't the only way that we had to put on rain gear today though. The dogs had to wear their raincoats too but when it came time to get ready for our daily stroll I asked them, “Do you want to go for a walk” and they both dashed to the door. Then I brought out the dog raincoats. Both Singing Dogs got a kind of worried and embarrassed face and ran away upstairs. I tried to coax them back downstairs to put the raincoats on but it was futile effort. Both were clearly not happy about the fact they were going to have to wear the dreaded raincoats. Admittedly I don't like having to put on the dog raincoats either but it keeps them a lot dryer and saves us a lot of time cleaning dirty and wet dogs.
I went upstairs and both and had holed themselves in a room and place they deemed ‘safe' from the dog raincoats. I left them alone for a little while then went in there and found Sierra lying on a bed. I again asked, “Sierra, do you want to go for a walk?” She didn't budge a muscle and just looked at me. I changed the question, “Do you want to go on a no raincoat walk?” She perked up and ran over, sat next to me, looked at me, and starting smiling. Clearly she knew what I said but unfortunately there wasn't going to be a raincoatless dog walk today. 😀
Since I had to ‘bend the truth' with both dogs when we went downstairs I got out the raincoats again and both dogs got the same faces and started avoiding me again. After I finally got Cody's raincoat on I told him, “You look good in the raincoat.” and “Hey, you look like a rescue dog.” (By that I mean a dog that rescues people, not a dog that need rescuing.) Cody's sullen face didn't seem to agree with any of these encouraging statements though and he clearly wasn't happy. Sierra ran away to hide under the table but we finally got her out and put on her Sierra's raincoat and went for a walk.
The forecast is calling for rain all day today and tomorrow. At least the snow is not back in Maryland and are having a somewhat reasonable temperature. Still, it's hard because both the dogs need to run around a little bit each day since they are built and hardwired for herding sheep I guess. At least it's starting to feel like the first days of Spring with Spring showers. So is Spring here for Good? Let us know what you think.
Why Move for the Dishwasher?
If I was to describe Sierra in 1-word it would probably be, “Spunky!” She's also been called a “Firecracker” and other terms that are not so flattering and start with a “B.” No matter how you say it Sierra is one tough and strong-minded girl.
One clear example of this is when we are doing dishes and open the dishwasher. Most dogs would move out of the way but Sierra… nope she's fine where she is. Sierra will not move for the dishwasher and is quite comfortable. She always gives us a look, “Why move for the Dishwasher?” Apparently Sierra expects the dishwasher to move for her.
Look at Sierra's face, she's quite fine where she is. Since there is enough room when the dishwasher door is down I guess it's fine if she lays there. Still we think it is funny she doesn't move, since Cody would if he was laying under the dishwasher.
Does your dog also like to hangout under the dishwasher? Do you have dogs that won't move when you need them? Tell us below.
It’s Snowing in March
Well if you can believe it… right now it is… snowing… in March. This means it is March 25th, almost the end of the month, and it is SNOWING. The First Day of Spring was only five days ago on March 20th and it was a relatively warm and nice day.
Now it's snowing and the forecast is saying we will get about 1-3 inches when the snow stops. Back when I asked, “Is Spring here for Good?” I didn't actually think that we would get snow twice in March. Sort of a crazy winter since Spring keeps leaving.
Yesterday the temperature dropped and it was cold but we didn't mind too much since it wasn't that bad when I was walking with the dogs and playing with Cody and Sierra in the sun. I know the dogs didn't mind the cold as long as I was paying attention and playing with them.
Snow is back in Maryland and there is nothing we can do about it. From what I can tell and see here while I am writing this post a lot of the snow isn't sticking but a fair amount of snow is still coming down. We might get more than 3 inches is this continues and the snow starts to stick. It is kind of a bummer and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.
If it is snowing where you live, what do you think about it? Do you wish Winter would go away and Spring could come?
It’s Cold Today, but we Still Play
Today the cold temperatures came back. The temperature fluctuated between 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit today. Since we were enjoying the First Days of Spring this wasn't something the dogs and I were thrilled about.
It seems that Spring has left Temporarily… again. Spring is not here for good and Winter seems to be holding on for dear life. Sort of crazy since this is the end of March. However even though it was cold today, we still play. We always like to play Frisbee in the yard regardless of how cold it is. Ok, not really me but Cody and Sierra do. See the picture of Cody below.
Even with the cold temperatures the yard is still quite muddy. The dogs ruin all the grass in the Spring and we can't seem to get it to grow back so there is no mud. If you have a suggestion for this issue let us know.
Also an FYI, we are getting more snow tomorrow apparently. From what I've read and heard 1-3 inches of snow. Snow will be back in Maryland! 🙁
By the way how do you like the title for this post? I thought it was pretty catchy.
Sierra Rubbing her Scent on a Ball [VIDEO]
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying the first days of Spring. The Singing Dogs and I certainly are as today was a beautiful day with mild temperatures. Great for a long stroll with the puppies.
I thought I'd post this funny video of Sierra. It's not of her singing or anything but shows how she likes to rub her scent on these soft balls we have in the house. Instead of using tennis balls or any hard balls indoors we like to use soft balls so nothing breaks. Of course somehow they still can make for some crazy situations.
Sierra likes to take these soft balls and rub her scent on them. I guess it is an Alpha Dog instinct and makes it so that Cody knows who's ball it is. Funny thing is Sierra doesn't really fetch these balls inside but just like to rub on them It makes Cody crazy when he wants the ball and Sierra is hogging it rubbing her back on it.
I like the look Sierra has when she is on her back and how she tries to reach for the ball. You can see her grab the blue ball at the end of the video if you watching carefully.
I find it pretty funny but maybe that's just because I see the whole scenario unfolding. Let us know what you think of Sierra's antics.
