Singing Dogs to be featured in Spy Movie

I have some great news for all of our readers and fans.  The Singing Dogs are going to be featured in full blown Hollywood movie.  Cool, right?

I can't tell you who is in the movie but I will say some big A-list stars will be in the film (Including Cody and Sierra.)  I can tell you that the movie is going to be shot in several countries which includes Italy, Brazil, Czech Republic, and Britain.  This works well since the dogs are English (of course they won't be going to all these countries) but some of it will be shot in the United States.  The movie takes place in the present day.  We can say it's a spy thriller that features a world famous character which was originally a book series.  The books were written by an ex-journalist that used to work in British Intelligence, had a house in Jamaica where he wrote the books, loved drinking, and beautiful women.  It's the longest running movie franchise in history and half the world's population has seen these movies.  The main character will be driving an assortment of cool cars including an Aston Martin.  It should start shooting sometime next year, 2015.

Can you guess what the movie is?  If you think you know what this movie is, leave a comment below and let us know.

Another question you probably have, Where do the dogs come into a spy thriller and action movie?  Well, there will be a movie sequence on the street and the producers want a musician with singing dogs to add to the atmosphere.  Apparently it is in the script and they've been trying to find dogs that could do this.  Better get practicing as getting Cody and Sierra will sing on set with lots of lights, people, cameras, and distractions.  Sierra sang on “Anderson” with Anderson Cooper and we only had one take.  With this spy movie we will have several takes.

We are pretty excited about it and hope everyone we know is too.

Anyway…Happy April 1st everyone! 🙂

Checkout the Singing Dogs new Business Cards

I thought I would show everyone the Singing Dogs' newest Business Cards.  Even if I can't hand one out to you I thought it would be nice to see the design online.

business cards

Since Cody and Sierra are such big stars it seemed appropriate that they have their own business cards.  I also got them made for going to BlogPaws 2013.  Having business cards is a must for conferences and I have found them to be really useful for handing out in general when people ask about our dogs.  (Yes, I usually start talking about their many TV appearances and their musical talents to anyone that will listen.  Who wouldn't?)

I honestly couldn't be happier with the design and how the business cards came out.  Like a lot of people nowadays I used a microgig service to get the design made.  For $10 bucks it was totally worth it as I couldn't have designed anything that would have looked as good as this card.  However, there are a ton of great design elements that I asked for.

Instead of ordering business cards online I decided to use a locally based printing company, Indigo Ink, this time.  In the past when I've ordered business cards online they always come out weird or something is usually wrong with the cards.  I have had issues where the colors were off, the cut was bad, and paper quality was pretty iffy.

Matt Richardson, the owner of Indigo Ink, was easy to work with and answered all my questions about getting the business cards printed.   I am not totally familiar with all the printing jargon but he was pretty helpful and understanding in explaining the terminology.  When I went to pick these cards up they were printed how I wanted with vibrant colors, a durable finish, and a nice paper quality and weight.  In addition the price was not that much different than ordering online and Indigo Ink got them done in 1-day.  I was impressed especially since my order was small by comparison to other printing jobs they get.

I'd recommend Indigo Ink for any small or large printing jobs if you are in the Baltimore-Washington Metro area.   I will definitely be using them in the future for any of my printing needs. It is nice not having to deal with mistakes that big online printing companies make and supporting a local business too.

Keep in mind a lot of people at BlogPaws were professional pet bloggers who had graphic designed do their business card design and quality of the cards was top notch.  I would say our business cards were on par or even better quality than some cards people were handing out.  Having the good quality cards along with a nice design makes a big difference to the person who didn't put in the effort and time.

Bottom line I am definitely pleased with how these business cards came out.  Have an opinion about them?  Leave a comment below and let us know.

Sea Lion can keep a Beat!

A family member sent me this funny video of a Sea Lion that can keep a beat!  It is pretty funny and entertaining.

The Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Laboratory (I know right!) at the University of California in Santa Cruz trained this special Ronan, the Sea Lion to bob his head to the beat.  The Youtube video description reads, “One of our resident sea lions, Ronan, is the first non-human mammal shown able to find and keep the beat with musical stimuli. This challenges earlier evidence from humans and parrots suggesting that complex vocal mimicry is a necessary precondition for flexible rhythmic entrainment.”

While Ronan is not naturally musically talented like Cody and Sierra I still think it shows how smart animals are.  It also show how much they can react and learn from music too.

Hey, maybe Ronan could join our band!  🙂  A head bobbing Sea Lion and two Singing Dogs would be pretty hilarious.

Puppy Bowl, The Best Super Bowl Alternative

puppy bowl

If you are not a football fan or care much for sports than you won't be excited to watch the Super Bowl today.  However don't fret because there is a good alternative for you, the Puppy Bowl!

The Puppy Bowl is an ‘Animal Planet' TV show that features adorable and cute puppies playing a game of football.  The puppies in  the Puppy Bowl play in a miniature Animal Planet Stadium that looks like a football field and do cute puppy things.

One cool thing is that all the puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from rescue and shelters.  This is to raise awareness for people about how they can adopt a shelter dog.

Here is the description from the Animal Planet website:

The biggest event on all fours is back!Puppy Bowl returns for its ninth consecutive year with an all-star, all-adorable cast that's ready to mix it up on the grand gridiron of Animal Planet Stadium. Puppy Bowl IXbrings viewers a loveable lineup that's itching to play in a winning combination of terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and Fido first downs. Featuring fan favorites like the Water Bowl Cam, tail-gating fans, and the hamster-steered blimp, this year's big game is sure to be a tail-wagger. For the first time ever, viewers can see slow motion replays with the new Cute Cam. And be on the lookout for the hedgehog cheerleaders. Also, don't miss the debut of the puppy hot tub, where puppy players can cool down after tearing up the field. From barking beagles and spunky spaniels to everything in between, we've got the cutest players taking the field on the most action-packed Sunday of the year. Plus, back for another year is the popular Bissel Kitten Halftime Show, guaranteed to bring the house down! And, sideline reporter “Meep the Bird” will return to tweet live updates throughout the game. Follow @MeepTheBird on game day for the latest news, puppy penalties and behind-the-scenes moments from inside the stadium.

The Puppy Bowl is an awesome alternative for animals lovers don't care about watching the Super Bowl or the commercials, which are mostly posted on Youtube nowadays anyway.   They have a Puppy Live Cam you can watch which is totally cute.

The Puppy Bowl will be airing on Animal Planet at 3pm EST on February 3rd, 2013.

Cody, Sierra, and I will definitely be watching the Super Bowl this year since the Baltimore Ravens are playing against the San Francisco 49ers.  Joe Flacco, the Raven quarterbacks  is the spokesperson for the Baltimore Humane Society.

Sierra’s Auld Lang Syne Video on Good Morning America!

Sierra's Auld Lang Syne Video on Good Morning America!

Another BIG appearance I haven't put up on Singing Dogs is that Sierra was on Good Morning America for the New Year's Show! A producer contacted me and said that they “Loved” the video of Sierra singing to ‘Auld Lang Syne' lying down and they wanted to show it on Good Morning America for the Play of the Day segment.

For those that might have missed it (we did too by the way) you can watch the video here.  I included the short promo they did before the commercial break.

Pretty cool, right?  I mean the guy call Sierra a “He” but at least she was the best part of the Play of the Day segment.  (That is my biased opinion.)  He did say “English Shepherd” which was accurate.

It took me awhile to get the video on Youtube.  Someone sent me a VHS of the show, then I transferred that onto a DVD with my Toshiba DVD Recorder, put the file on my laptop, then I finally got it edited correctly and uploaded it to the SingingDogsRock channel.  It was sort of annoying because it was so time consuming.  At least the video is up so people can see it now.

Please leave a comment below and let us know what you think of Sierra's Good Morning America appearance.  Got an opinion about Cody and Sierra's other media and press appearances?  Leave a comment too!
